Men's Hoops Hosts Lock Haven in PSAC West Opener Saturday

ERIE, Pa.- The Mercyhurst men's basketball team hosts Lock Haven in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Western Division opener Saturday, December 8. Tip-off is slated for 3 p.m. at the Mercyhurst Athletic Center.

The Lakers won, 80-64, at Notre Dame College December 5. Luis Leao led the team with 21 points and seven rebounds, while Jonathan Ouegnin contributed a career-high 15 points on 5-5 field goal shooting and 5-5 free throw accuracy. He also posted eight rebounds and three steals.
 
Lock Haven sports a 3-2 record, having split two PSAC crossovers at home last weekend. Sophomore Wali Hepburn had a monster weekend, garnering PSAC Western Division Player of the Week honors. He recorded 30 points and 13 boards in an overtime loss to Millersville and then had 40 points in an overtime win against Shippensburg.
 
Mercyhurst is 4-3 overall and 1-1 in the conference. Leao is averaging 19.4 points and 5.9 rebounds per game. Ouegnin is putting up 8.4 points, 4.1 rebounds, 3.9 assists, and two steals per contest.
 
The Lakers have won five straight meetings with the Bald Eagles and 12 of 17 in the all-time series. Mercyhurst beat Lock Haven twice last season, including a 73-66 win on the last day of the 2011-12 regular season.
