Women's Hoops Opens Home Schedule This Weekend (Video)

ERIE, Pa.- The Mercyhurst women's basketball team hosts two Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) crossover games this weekend. The Lakers face East Stroudsburg Saturday, December 1, and then take on Kutztown Sunday, December 2. Both contests are slated for 1 p.m. starts at the Mercyhurst Athletic Center.

The Lakers are 0-2 this season, having lost to Northern Michigan, 59-44, and at #1 Ashland, 81-51, last weekend. Senior Kaylee Foster is averaging 11.5 points per game, while Dana Banda is recording five rebounds and five assists per game.
 
East Stroudsburg has a 1-2 mark, having lost, 78-67, to Concordia on November 25. Jessica Martin leads the Warriors with 14.7 points and 10.7 rebounds per game. The sophomore was named PSAC East Freshman of the Year in 2011-12. ESU was chosen to finish fifth in the PSAC Eastern Division, according to the preseason coaches' poll.
 
Kutztown is also 1-2 entering this weekend. It will play at Gannon on December 1 before coming to the MAC. The Bears lost, 68-60, at Lincoln on November 27. Alyssa Bonenberger leads KU with 11.7 points and 8.3 rebounds per game. Ashley Wood is scoring nine points a game after being named to the Preseason PSAC East First Team this season.
