Men's Basketball to Host Two Crossovers at MAC (Video)

ERIE, Pa.- The Mercyhurst men's basketball team hosts East Stroudsburg and Kutztown Saturday, December 1, and Sunday, December 2. The Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) crossovers are both slated for 3 p.m. starts at the Mercyhurst Athletic Center.

The Lakers are 2-2 in 2012-13. They lost, 71-63, at Urbana November 25. On November 20, Mercyhurst defeated Salem International, 75-61, hitting 28-40 free throw attempts in the home win. Andy Hoying was named PSAC Western Division Freshman of the Week after putting up eight points in both outings.
 
East Stroudsburg has started out 3-1 this year. The Warriors are led by Duane Johnson, who is putting up 19.3 points and 5.8 rebounds per game. Whis Grant and Terrance King are combining to score 30.1 points per game this season. ESU won the PSAC Tournament in 2011-12 and is the favorite to win the Eastern Division this year.
 
Kutztown sports a 1-4 mark heading into the weekend. The Golden Bears played at the MAC to begin the season, dropping games to West Virginia State and Concord. KU will play at Gannon December 1 before facing the Lakers the next day. Micah Fraction leads the team with 19.3 points and 4.3 assists per game. Tyler Brooks is adding 12.8 points and 8.6 boards per contest.
 
Luis Leao paces Mercyhurst with 18.3 points, including 24 at Urbana. Beau Samuelson scored 20 points in his collegiate debut, earning PSAC West Freshman of the Week honors for his efforts.
