Women's Hoops Outdone by #1 Ashland Sunday Afternoon

ASHLAND, Ohio- The Mercyhurst women's basketball team lost, 81-51, at #1 Ashland Sunday afternoon. Adrienne Klocker had 11 points and Kaylee Foster and Alayna White each added 10 points apiece in the non-conference loss.
 
The Eagles went up 5-0, but Mercyhurst bounced back with an Adrienne Kloecker three-pointer. Jumpers by Foster and Kelsey Trosch made it 10-7 with 14:50 to play in the first half. Abby Allen followed with a hoop and then a trey to keep the visitors close. Dana Banda found Kelley McBroom for a lay-in at the 11:12 mark to make it 16-14 AU. The hosts quickly separated themselves, going ahead 36-19 on two free throws with 5:24 left. White closed the first half with a bucket to get the Lakers within 45-26 at the break.
 
Kloecker hit three triples on her way to 11 points. Foster was 4-10 from the floor, while White converted 5-6 field goal tries. Banda totaled eight rebounds and six assists while playing all 40 minutes. Kari Daugherty led AU with 16 points and 16 boards.
 
The Lakers dropped to 0-2 with the defeat. They host East Stroudsburg in their home opener Saturday, December 1. The Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) opener is slated for a 1 p.m. start at the Mercyhurst Athletic Center.
