Women's Soccer Loses in Double Overtime, 2-1

Senior Sara Hawksworth and the Lakers lost in a overtime battle against Clarion, 2-1.

CLARION, Pa. – The Mercyhurst women's soccer team fell to Clarion University Saturday, 2-1, at Memorial Stadium.  The Lakers fell to 4-7-1 overall and 1-7-1 in the PSAC.  Clarion improved to 2-7-3, and 2-6-1 in the PSAC.
 
Senior Sara Hawksworth improves to a three match scoring streak, scoring her unassisted goal at 32:07 in the first.  Mercyhurst outshot Clarion 9 to one. 
 
Clarion came up with the tying goal at 74:13 when Mercyhurst would cause a penalty inside the box.  Clarion's Lauren Barbour took the kick, beating junior goaltender Brooke Morrison.  At the end of regulation time Mercyhurst would outshoot Clarion 19 to 7, and dominated the corners 5 to 0. 
 
Clarion would score at the 108:17 mark of the second overtime, by Golden Hawks Bethany Naugle.
 
Morrison would play the entire 108:17 minutes, making four saves.  Clarion goaltender Laura Saussol played the entire 108:17 making 11 saves.
 
The Lakers travel to Painesville, Ohio on Tuesday, October 9 to play Lake Erie College.  Match is set for 7 p.m.
