Fernando Martinez led the Lakers to a 3-1 victory over Lock Haven on Wednesday. Mercyhurst improved to 11-5-1 in the season, and 6-2 in conference play. Lock Haven fell to 6-9-1 in their late season.
The Lakers are ranked fourth in the Atlantic Region according to NCAA rankings, announced Wednesday. The Mercyhurst win over Lock Haven was not included in the rankings. The top four teams in the NCAA regional rankings receive a bid to the NCAA tournament.

Austin Solomon was the first Laker to score at 11:26 into the first half. Solomon and sophomore
Fernando Martinez passed back and forth to each other where Solomon shot the ball into the right corner of the net. The Lakers led the Eagles 1-0 going into the second half, but it was the Eagles who led the shots seven to six.
Senior
Alex Manea scored at the 55:26 mark, also assisted by Martinez, which made it Manea's tenth goal of the season. A little over ten minutes later, Martinez would score the game-winning goal, unassisted, at 64:27. Lock Haven, who was down a player due to a penalty, managed to squeeze away a goal. Gregory Bretz scored his second goal of the season at 79:10. Lock Haven would build up momentum late in the second, but came up short.
The Lakers outshot Lock Haven 15 to 12 throughout the match. Mercyhurst also dominated the corners seven to four.
Senior goaltender
Diego Gustin made three saves and improved to 10-5-1. Eagles goaltender Chris Frederick (4-6-1) made five saves and allowed three in net.
The Lakers will host Gannon University in their final regular season home match. Kickoff is set for 1:00 p.m.
