#22 Men's Soccer Downs Seton Hill, 8-1 Monday

Sophomore Sam Dorf scored his first goal as a Laker against Seton Hill Monday.

ERIE, Pa. – Twenty-second ranked men's soccer came together to beat Seton Hill Monday afternoon, 8-1.  Four of the Lakers eight goals were the player's first goal of the season.  The last time Mercyhurst scored eight goals in a match was when the Lakers shutout Northwood University, 8-0 on September 28, 2001.
 
Senior Alex Manea scored his eighth goal of the season at 2:40 in the first half.  Sophomore Sam Dorf, who assisted Manea's first goal, scored his first goal of his Mercyhurst career at 15:24.  Mercyhurst freshman Karl Viehbeck also scored his first goal of his career at 36:14.  The Lakers outshot Seton Hill ten to one in the first half.
 
Seton Hill scored their lone goal at the beginning of the second half, when Griffins goal-leader Joe Tchimou scored his fifth goal of the season by beating Senior goaltender Diego Gustin at 55:38 in the second.  Manea would take back the three goal lead at 60:57 making it his second goal of the match and ninth of the season.  Senior Austin Solomon and junior David Dougherty would extend the lead to 5-1 at 72:02 and 80:40.  Gustin scored his first goal of the season off of a penalty shot at 85:51, and sophomore Silvio Scandiuzzi beat Seton Hill goaltender Jordan Sodhi to score his first goal as a Laker.
 
Gustin (9-5-1) made one save and allowed one goal in the entire 90:00 to the 8-1 victory.  Sodhi (2-10-2) made five saves and allowed eight.
 
The Lakers improve to 10-5-1 in the season, and remain 5-2 in the conference outshooting Seton Hill 25 to four.  Seton Hill falls to a record of 3-11-2.  Manea notched two goals throughout the 90 minutes, while sophomore Dane Rimko had three assists.
 
Mercyhurst will host Lock Haven University in a PSAC match on Wednesday, October 24 at 12:00 p.m.
