ERIE, Pa.- The Mercyhurst women's basketball team hosts two Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division opponents this weekend. The Lakers take on Shippensburg Friday, January 6, and then face Cheyney on Saturday, January 7. Both games are scheduled for 5:30 p.m.

Hurst is 5-5 overall and 3-3 in the conference. It has gone 5-1 in its last six outings, including an 80-70 home win over Notre Dame College December 30. Senior
Nikki Frederickson scored a career-high 27 points, hitting 11-14 shots from the field. Freshman
Lindsay Stamp added 19 points on 8-12 shooting. Stamp leads all PSAC rookies in scoring with 13.9 points per game.
Shippensburg enters the weekend 5-5 and 2-4 in the league. Senior Monae Baker leads the team with 14.2 points and 9.7 rebounds per game. Sisters Dana and Shawna Wert are next in scoring, both averaging in double figures. They are 1-2 on the team in assists as well. The Raiders lost at West Virginia Wesleyan, 85-79, in overtime on December 30. Mercyhurst defeated Wesleyan, 77-62, on December 14.
Cheyney is 0-10 this season and on a 16-game losing streak back to last season. The Wolves haven't played since December 16, when they lost to Virginia State, 73-45. Aerie DeJesus is scoring 10.9 points a contest, while Nadirah Brown is scoring 10.6 points and grabbing 7.6 boards per game.
This weekend is the final pair of crossover games. Hurst opens PSAC Western Division action at Clarion January 11.
