Men's Hoops Faces Gannon at MAC Wednesday (Video)

ERIE, Pa.- The Mercyhurst men's basketball team plays local rival Gannon Wednesday, January 18, at the Mercyhurst Athletic Center. The Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Western Division game is scheduled for a 7:30 p.m. tip-off.

Hurst is 9-5 overall and 7-3 in the conference. It defeated Slippery Rock, 64-62, at the MAC on January 14. Steven Coleman totaled 18 points and seven rebounds, while Paul Bilbo added 13 points and seven boards of his own. Both point totals are career highs for the first-year Lakers. Mercyhurst dropped a 71-66 decision at Clarion in the division-opener January 11. Matt Lee leads the Lakers at 15.6 points per game, having hit 37 treys this season. Bill Weaver is averaging 12.1 and 5.4 rebounds a contest.
 
The Golden Knights enter Wednesday with an 8-6 mark, including 6-4 in the PSAC. GU lost its first two West encounters-first at home, 76-72, to Edinboro January 11, and then at California (Pa.), 65-59, on January 14. Darrell Blanton leads the Knights with 18.9 points and 7.9 boards per game. Four Gannon players are averaging double-digit points on the year. GU leads the conference in assists per game with 18.4, while Hurst is next at 16.8 per.
 
Last season, the two teams split their regular season meetings, with the road team taking each outing.
