Mercyhurst (7-5, 5-3 PSAC) has won seven of its last eight games, wrapping up the crossover schedule with a 5-3 record. The Lakers defeated Shippensburg and Cheyney last weekend. In a 42-40 win over Ship January 6, Hurst recorded the lowest-scoring victory in school history. Lindsey Burke scored the home team's final six points of the game, including a tie-breaking three-pointer in the last two minutes.

Against Cheyney the following day, the Lakers won 63-35. It marked the fewest points allowed by a Hurst defense since the 1999-2000 season, when it beat Columbia Union, 105-29. Nikki Frederickson scored 21 points on 9-11 shooting, including her second triple of the season.

Frederickson was named PSAC Western Division athlete of the week for the second consecutive time. She pulled down a career-high 12 rebounds in the Shippensburg win prior to the Cheyney outburst.

Clarion is 4-8 overall and 3-5 in the league. The Golden Eagles feature four sophomores and a freshman in their top six. Emma Fickel is scoring 12.5 points per game, while Ann Deibert is next with 12.4 points and 7 rebounds a contest. Coach Gie Parsons' squad split two crossover games last weekend, beating Mansfield before falling to Bloomsburg.

Hurst is tied for fourth place in the West with California (Pa.). Edinboro, Gannon, and Indiana (Pa.) make up the top three and all are ranked nationally.

Mercyhurst begins a three-game homestand Saturday, January 14, against Slippery Rock.
