SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Mercyhurst College women's soccer team lost a hard fought 1-0 battle today, Sept.28 to Shippensburg University who scored their lone goal with just 10 minutes left in the first half of todays contest.
The Raiders found their tally 30 minutes into the first half when graduate student
Rachel Griepsma attempted to clear the ball from the goalie box, the ball found Kate Zech of the Raiders who controlled the ball in the box before tapping in the gamewinner.

Perrin Kern were the only Lakers to put their shots on target but Shelby Rackley was there to make both saves for the Raiders.
The Lakers were edged in shots with the Raiders holding a 13-11 advantage, the Raiders also held a 10-9 corner kick lead.
Griepsman made five saves in the losing effort, moving her record to 5-3-1 overall this season. Griepsma's counterpart Rackley made two saves extending her showing to 4-3-3.
The Lakers move to 5-3-1 overall this season with the loss dropping their PSAC record to 2-3-1. Ship on the other hand improves to 4-3-3 overall and 2-2-2 in PSAC play.
Mercyhurst now turns its attention to the No.2 team in the nation, California (Pa.). The match will be part of the homecoming festivities that will take place throughout the weekend. The two teams will meet Saturday, October 1 at 4 p.m. at Mercyhurst Soccer Field.
