ERIE, Pa. -- Amy Achesinski recorded her 11th double-double of the season, helping the Lakers complete the season sweep of the Golden Knights, a feat that hasn't been done since the 1996-97 season.

This is the first time the Lakers posted a win at home against Gannon, since their 82-71 victory in 2003-04.

There was no doubt that Mercyhurst was going to complete the season sweep of the Golden Knights, as the Lakers held a comfortable double-digit lead for the majority of the game.

Achesinski scored a game-high 22-points, while pulling down 11 of Mercyhurst's 38 rebounds, completing the 31st double-double of her career.

Sophomores Kaylee Foster and Dana Banda each added double-figures of their own, scoring 14 and 11-points respectively.

The Lakers set the tone early, opening the game with a 16-7 run. The Golden Knights answered quickly with a Jessie Tamerlano three-ball, keeping it a two-possession game.

Back-to-back three-pointers by Gannon's Caitlyn Lowe cut that Mercyhurst double-figure lead to four, with just under 10 minutes to play in the first half.

The Lakers answered back, scoring eight-straight points, with 3-point efforts by Katie Carbee and Megan Hoffman, putting Mercyhurst up 12, just under the five-minute mark.

The Golden Knights' Julie Kleber added a late three-pointer, pulling within three-points of Mercyhurst.

Samantha Loadman answered back with a three of her own, ending the half for the Lakers with a six-point advantage.

Achesisnki highlighted the first half, scoring 10-points and grabbing six boards. As a team, Mercyhurst shot 63 percent from the field (14-22) and 67 percent from behind the arc (4-6).

The Lakers scored their first points of the second half off an Achesinski layup at the 18:10 mark to pull ahead eight points.

The Golden Knights battled to within five, until another layup in the paint by Achesinski sparked a Mercyhurst 11-0 run.

The Lakers managed to carry their double figure lead all the way until the six-minute mark when Jennifer Papich laid one up for Gannon.
The two teams exchanged baskets over the next four-minutes of play, until the Golden Knights started playing the foul game.

A seven-for-eight performance from the line down the home stretch solidified the victory for the Lakers, 66-56.

Mercyhurst sank 54.8 percent of its shots from the field (23-42) and 44.4 percent of its shots from beyond the arc. More impressively, the Lakers only missed six free-throws the entire game, sinking 16-of-22 (72.7 percent).

Mercyhurst plays its final home game Saturday against the Rock of Slippery Rock. Seniors Samantha Loadman and Amy Achesinski will be honored before the game, for their contributions the past four years. Tip-off is set for 1 p.m.
