MANSFIELD, Pa. - The Mercyhurst College Lakers played another dominating game, defeating Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference contender Mansfield University by a score of 6-0 on Saturday afternoon. Junior

Paige McDowell all registered goals for the Lakers.
During the first half, the Lakers managed nine shots to Mansfields five and also held the corner kick advantage, 5-1. The first goal came at the 21:27 mark, off the foot of Medeiros. Medeiros was 35 yards out when she struck the ball and watched it sail into the back of the net. Then, 16 minutes later Hawksworth got in on the action when senior
Jamie Schroter lined up for a corner kick and ripped the ball across the field, with Hawksworth striking the ball into the goal.
Mercyhurst dominated the second period when both the offense and the defense came alive and outshot Mansfield, 16-0. They also held a 2-0 corner kick advantage. For the game, the Lakers held a 7-1 corner kick advantage and a 25-5 shot advantage.
The second half was kicked off by Schroter, who again assisted, this time to Kern. Kern took full advantage of the corner kick and capitalized when she found the back of the net at 56:37. Mcdowell played in only 47 minutes but wasted none of that time. She shot the ball seven times, five of which were on target and three got past the goalie. McDowell scored in the 60
th, 71
st and 81
st minutes of the second half, and all of which were unassisted. Her first goal came from 30 yards out when she struck the ball over top of an outstretched goalie. The second goal of the game came on a fast break where she beat two defenders then tapped the ball past the goalie. Her hat-trick goal came from 16 yards out.
The winning goal keeper is Mercyhurst's
Rachel Griepsma, improving her record to 4-1. The loss goes to Mansfield's keeper Samantha DeLiere. The loss now gives her a record of 1-1.
The Lakers overall record for the 2010 season is 4-1, while Mansfields record now resides at 1-1.
