Chargers Deal Lakers Second-Straight Loss, 4-1

Mercyhurst vs. Alabama - Huntsville Box Score

BURLINGTON, Vt. - The Mercyhurst College men's hockey team dropped its second game at the 2010 Sheraton / TD Bank Catamount Cup, falling to Alabama - Huntsville, 4-1, on Sunday afternoon in Burlington, Vt. With the loss, the Lakers fall to 9-11-2 on the season and finish in fourth place at the Catamount Cup.

Freshman Charlie Carkin scored his second goal of the season, connecting off a pass from senior captain Chris Risi just 33 seconds into the second period.

Alabama - Huntsville, however, countered the goal with four straight, rattling off two in the second and two more in the third to capture its fifth win of the season.

Sophomore Max Strang suffered the loss with 30 saves over a span of 59:54. Alabama - Huntsville outshot Mercyhurst 34-33 and converted 1-for-2 on the power play. The Lakers finished 0-for-6 with the extra man.

Mercyhurst returns home this weekend to host Atlantic Hockey foe American International in a two-game series on Friday, Jan. 8 and Saturday, Jan. 9 at the Mercyhurst Ice Center.
