Lakers Fall to Wisconsin-Parkside

ERIE, Pa. -- The Mercyhurst College women's volleyball team (3-2) dropped a a close straight-set decision to Wisconsin-Parkside, 25-23, 25-23, 25-20.

Leading the way for the Lakers offense was Chelsea Jensen with 13 kills, while Gretta Freyermuth and Justine Smith each deposited seven each.  Setter Julia Butler helped the offense as she recorded 25 assists on the night.

Defensively, Butler paced Mercyhurst with 19 digs while libero Kendall Ashworth chipped in 15.  Jensen and Kiera Rebert also added six digs while Freyermuth and Becky Leusch added another four each.  

Smith tied for a game-high in blocks with one solo and two assisted.

Next up for Mercyhurst is a 10 a.m. contest against Tiffin in the Lakers second game of the Mercyhurst / Gannon Tournament, followed by Adelphi at Mercyhurst at 3 p.m.
