Game 1: Edinboro 4, Mercyhurst 2
Game 2: Edinboro 9, Mercyhurst 5
EDINBORO, Pa. -- Mercyhurst College dropped both ends of a doubleheader at Edinboro on Friday as the Lakers fell 4-2 in the opener before losing a 9-5 decision in the nightcap.
In Game 1, Mercyhurst tied the game 1-1 in the top of the third but the Fighting Scots answered back with two in the bottom of the frame to reclaim the lead. The Lakers added a run in the top of the fifth to cut the score to 3-2. However, the Fighting Scots again countered with a run, this time in the bottom of the sixth, for the game's final score.
In Game 2, the Fighting Scots pounded out 10 hits and pushed six runs across in the bottom of the third to erase a 2-0 Laker lead given by Jen Bower's home run in the top half of the inning. The Fighting Scots added three more in the following inning before Mercyhurst rallied for one run in the fourth and two in the fifth to end the scoring.
Mercyhurst moves to 19-22 overall, 5-9 in the PSAC West. Meanwhile, the Fighting Scots move to second-place at 22-15, 5-5 in the Western Division.
Next up for the Mercyhurst is a home doubleheader against Slippery Rock on Saturday, April 18 at 1 p.m. The two teams split a twinbill earlier this year.
