Lakers Host Cross Town Rival Gannon Wednesday

The Lakers are set to take on cross town rival Gannon Wednesday.
Erie, Pa. – The Mercyhurst women's basketball team plays host to Gannon in a rivalry game Wednesday, Feb. 4 at the Mercyhurst Athletic Center at 5:30 p.m. The two teams are among the top four in the PSAC Western Division standings, as Gannon is in third place at 4-2 in the division and the Lakers are 3-3 and in fourth place in the PSAC West.

Game Information: Mercyhurst (9-10 overall, 3-3, 4th PSAC West) meets cross town rival Gannon (16-3, 4-2, 3rd) for the 70th time and first time as PSAC West rivals.

Series History: The Golden Knights lead the all-time series 45-24 and have taken each of the last nine meetings, including both games last season. Their last meeting was Feb. 23, 2008 at Gannon, as the Golden Knights won 95-66. Samantha Loadman led the Lakers with 21 points, hitting five three-pointers. Brittany Tabron recorded 21 points and 12 boards for Gannon. The Golden Knights hold a slight 12-11 edge in games decided by 10 points or less in the series.

Last Time Out: The Lakers dropped a 91-64 decision against No. 3 Cal Saturday despite placing three players in double-figures, led by Stephanie Prischak's 16 points. Gannon defeated Lock Haven 91-57 at the Hammermill Center Saturday, as Carrie Nolan led four Golden Knights in double-figures in scoring with 18 points.
