Lakers to Battle Golden Eagles Wednesday

Freshman Meghan Dougherty scored a career-high six points Saturday.
Erie, Pa. – The Mercyhurst women's basketball team travels to play PSAC West foe Clarion Wednesday at 6 p.m. at the Waldo S. Tippin Gymnasium. The Lakers and Golden Eagles are currently tied for sixth place at 3-7 in the PSAC West, one game behind both Edinboro and Slippery Rock. Mercyhurst defeated Clarion 56-45 Jan. 28 in the first meeting this season.

Game Information
Mercyhurst (9-14 overall, 3-7, t6th PSAC West) meets PSAC West foe Clarion (9-14, 3-7, t6th) in a key PSAC Western Division matchup. The winner will improve their PSAC playoff hopes.

Series History
The Golden Eagles lead the all-time series 16-11, but the Lakers have won four out of the last five meetings and seven out of 10, including the first meeting this season. Mercyhurst won 56-45 vs. Clarion Jan. 28 at the MAC, getting 24 points from Stephanie Prischak. Bethany Koch led the Golden Eagles with 19 points, and Lizzie Suwala grabbed 11 rebounds.

Last Time Out
Mercyhurst lost 78-60 to No. 11 IUP Saturday at the MAC, their fifth loss in a row. Samantha Loadman led with 12 points, including four threes. Clarion dropped a 69-63 home decision to Gannon Saturday despite making 11 three-pointers. Koch led with 24 points, sinking five three-pointers. 

Up Next
The Lakers play host to Lock Haven Saturday, Feb. 21 in their final home contest of the 2008-09 season. The Lady Eagles are 3-20, 0-10 in PSAC West play. Mercyhurst defeated Lock Haven 74-61 Jan. 24, a game in which senior Stephanie Prischak scored her 1,000th career point during a 45-29 Laker second half.
