Erie, Pa. – The Mercyhurst women's basketball team will play its third straight PSAC West away game Saturday at Lock Haven at 1 p.m.

GAME INFORMATION: Mercyhurst (7-9, 1-2 PSAC West) and Lock Haven (3-13, 0-3) meet for the 11th time and first time as PSAC West foes.

SERIES HISTORY: The Lakers lead the all-time series, 6-4, and have won four out of the last five meetings, including an 89-78 victory Dec. 30, 2007. In that contest, the Lakers took a 43-28 halftime lead, and hit 11-of-18 three-pointers for the game. Stephanie Prischak led the Lakers with 19 points, while Amy Achesinski and Paris Pugliese each had 18 and Samantha Loadman netted 16 points. Michelle Mitchell scored 26 points and Malika Miller added 20 for Lock Haven

LAST TIME OUT: The Lakers lost 69-59 at Edinboro Wednesday. Achesinski led the Lakers with season highs of 29 points and 14 rebounds. The Lady Eagles dropped a 63-29 decision at No. 9 Indiana (Pa.) Wednesday. Lauren Kelshaw paced Lock Haven with eight points. 

On The Road Again
The Lakers conclude their three-game conference road swing Saturday at Lock Haven. Mercyhurst is 0-2 in the first two games. Mercyhurst will play three consecutive PSAC West home games starting Wednesday, Jan. 28 against Clarion at 5:30 p.m.

Scouting The Lady Eagles
Lock Haven is 3-13, including 0-3 in PSAC West play. Lock Haven averages 66.7 points while allowing 71.1 points per contest. The team is led in scoring by Lauren Kelshaw, who averages 14.5 points per game. Five players average betwen seven and nine points per game. Casi Donelan leads the Lady Eagles in rebounding (6.2 rpg) and assists (3.5 apg). Two LHU players (Kelshaw and Katie Kendall) have hit 30 or more three-pointers. The Lady Eagles rank sixth in the PSAC, averaging 12.4 steals per game. Malika Miller hast posted 3.6 steals per game, third in the PSAC.

1,000 Watch
Senior guard Stephanie Prischak has scored 986 points in 81 career games, and ranks 16th on the Mercyhurst women's basketball all-time scoring list. Sophomore forward Amy Achesinski is 23rd with 690 points in 43 games.

For Three
Mercyhurst has hit 112 three-pointers, good for third in the conference, with a .360 shooting percentage from behind the arc. The Lakers have hit 10 or more three-pointers in three games, matching the team's total for 10-three-pointer games from the 2007-08 season. 

Jackie Artise leads the PSAC and is second in the NCAA Division II rankings, shooting .563 (27-for-48) from three-point range. Prischak has canned 35 triples (4th in PSAC) at a .417 clip (7th in PSAC).
This season, Mercyhurst is on pace to surpass its 2007-08 three-point total of 171, which was an improvement of 56 over 2006-07. The Lakers are on pace to connect for 189 three-point goals this season. The program record is 198, set in 1995-96.

Coaching Matchup
Mercyhurst second-year head coach Deanna Richard holds a 75-121 career record and is in her eighth year of collegiate coaching. 

For Lock Haven, second-year head coach Jennifer Smith is 10-32, and 34-65 overall in four years of college coaching. 

Richard is 1-0 against Jennifer Smith.

Field Goal Excellence
Achesinski is shooting .583 from the field this season, is ranked 14th in field goal percentage in NCAA Division II, and is one of two Lakers shooting better than .500 this season. Artise, behind a .563 percentage from three-point range, is shooting .508. Achesinski shot .584 from the field a year ago, good for eighth in the nation.

First to 63 Points Wins
Mercyhurst is 6-0 when scoring 63 or more points this season, and 1-9 when scoring less than 63.

Good in the Clutch
The Lakers are 2-0 in games decided by five points or less. 

Mercyhurst outscored Wheeling Jesuit 12-2 over the final 3:30 of play, pulling out a 63-58 win Dec. 7. 

On Dec. 15, the Lakers received two threes from Prischak as part of a 9-4 run to close the game, and Achesinski hit a put-back layup at the buzzer to beat Le Moyne 54-53.

The Lakers are 5-0 when leading at halftime and 2-9 when trailing at intermission.

Achesinski scored 29 points and pulled down 14 rebounds Wednesday, Jan. 21 at Edinboro, her third double-double this season and 10th of her career. She set new career high for field goals made and attempted, going 14-of-22 from the field. Her night marked the first performance of 29 or more points and 10 or more rebounds since Julie Anderson recorded 29 points and 12 rebounds Jan. 6, 2007 in a 94-82 loss to Ashland.

The Lakers have had a player score 28 or more points in a game a total of nine times in the past 10 seasons. Achesinski has scored 28+ points three times in her career. Prischak scored 28 at West Va. Wesleyan Dec. 5, 2008. Julie Anderson netted 29 points vs. Ashland Jan. 6, 2007. Jessica Olmstead notched 28 points at Edinboro Dec. 1, 2004. Katie Lorincz scored 28 points on Jan. 10, 2002 at Northwood and Feb. 22, 2001 vs. Wayne State. Amy Galla scored 32 points Jan. 6, 2001 vs. Lake Superior State.

High School Teammates
Mercyhurst sophomore guard Samantha Loadman and Lock Haven sophomore Katie Kendall were prep teammates at Bethel Park High School, where they earned three state quarterfinal appearances.
