The Mercyhurst men's tennis team's three match winning streak came to a halt as the Lakers lost to Savannah College of Art and Design 9-0 Friday. Savannah Art and Design is ranked No. 5 in the NAIA.
A powerhouse Savannah Art and Design team never led Mercyhurst build any momentum, sweeping the three doubles matches. No. 1 singles player Tim Hansson retired midway through the opening set of his match and only Juan Franco was able to win more than three games in two sets. He lost 6-2, 6-3 at No. 6 singles.
Savannah Art and Design improves to 6-1 on the year and Mercyhurst falls to 3-4. The Lakers will return home to begin Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) play March 14 and 15. The Lakers will host Findlay March 14 at 1 p.m. and will host Ferris State March 15 at 3 p.m.
