COACHES:
     Mercyhurst: Marty Schaetzle (Bucknell '83), 25-45 at MC (7th year) and 25-45 overall. Schaetzle is 2-2 vs. Gannon and 1-0 vs. Jim Kiernan.
     Gannon: Jim Kiernan (St. Lawrence '90), 4-13 at GU (2nd year) and 4-13 overall. Kiernan is 0-1 vs. Mercyhurst and 0-1 vs. Marty Schaetzle.

In their first meeting as PSAC rivals, Mercyhurst and Gannon will battle for the Niagara Cup again this year. The Lakers are 7-3-1 all-time against Gannon and have defeated the Golden Knights by three touchdowns in each of the past two meetings. Mercyhurst is 5-1 all-time against Gannon at Gannon's University Field, winning last year's contest on that turf 49-28.

In that win a year ago, Richard Stokes had two touchdowns and Aaron Haynes had a 67-yard punt return for a touchdown that gave the Lakers a 35-14 lead. Mercyhurst had 520 total yards of offense as Stokes rushed for 151 yards.

The Lakers lead the country in three statistical categories -- total defense, passing defense, and time of possession. Gannon does not rank in the top 40 in any category and has struggled to pass the ball, ranking 112th out of 148 teams in passing offense.

Saturday night's game will be broadcast by both WMCE Radio 88.5 and 104.9 FM and by Jet Radio 1400 AM. The game will be televised by tape-delay on WICU-12 Sunday at 1:30 p.m. and is also available live via the B2 Networks. Live stats are available on the Gannon University web site.
