Lakers Rout Robert Morris 7-0

Erie, Pa. - Stephanie Jones and Angelica Lorsell each scored a pair of goals as the No. 1 ranked Mercyhurst women's hockey team routed Robert Morris 7-0 Friday at the Mercyhurst Ice Center.

The Lakers outshot Robert Morris 60-14 and scored twice in a nine second span of the first period to build a 3-0 lead. Jones and Lesley McArthur scored at 13:17 and 13:26 of the opening session, following a Stefanie Bourbeau goal just over five minutes into the contest.

Mercyhurst iced the game with a flurry over the final seven minutes of the second period beginning with a Sherilyn Fraser goal at 13:57. Lorsell followed with both of her goals, the first coming at 16:01 and the second coming with just 11 seconds remaining in the frame.

Jones scored her final goal as the only goal of the third period, posting her marker with just over two minutes remaining in the game.

Laura Hosier made seven saves, playing the first two periods in goal for the Lakers. Nicole Nelson got her first action of the year, making seven saves in the final period to preserve the shutout.

Robert Morris falls to 11-16-2 overall and 1-6-0 in the CHA. Mercyhurst improves to 26-1-2 overall and 7-0-0 in the CHA. The Lakers will host Robert Morris in the final game of the series Saturday at 2 p.m.
