FINDLAY, Ohio -
Shelby Chaney and Avi Fogel combined for 36 points, but No. 3 Findlay showed why it has the longest winning streak in the nation, taking an 86-60 from Mercyhurst in a GLIAC contest.
Findlay opened the game with a 20-4 run and extended it to 42-22 by the half. The Oilers were on fire the entire half, hitting 18-of-22 field goals to build their lead in the opening 20 minutes.
Chaney did his best to keep the Lakers in the game, scoring 13 points, which included a perfect 7-of-7 mark at the foul line.
In the second half, Mercyhurst cut it to 17, 54-37, after a Terry Smith three with 13:29 left, but the first half deficit was too much to overcome.
Chaney finished with 21 on 6-of-12 shooting and 9-of-9 from the line. Fogel added 15 on 6-of-9 shooting.
Five Oilers reached double figures, led by Marcus Parker with 16. Frank Phillips had 15, Josh Bostic 14, Lee Roberts 11 and Dorian Bass 10.
Mercyhurst rebounded from a cold first half to shoot 54 percent in the final 20 minutes, but Findlay hit 65 percent in the game, including 58 percent from long range.
Mercyhurst will look to rebound on February 17, when the Lakers travel to Ashland for a 3:00 PM tip in GLIAC action.
