Felician's Offense Sends Lakers to First Loss of the Season

Elkins, W.Va. - Senior Terry Smith scored a game-high 25 and classmate T.J. Mathis totaled 19, but the Lakers could not overcome Felician's hot shooting Saturday evening at the Davis & Elkins Tip-Off Tournament, falling 85-82.

The Lakers (1-1) drilled 31-of-56 field goals (55.4 percent) and knocked down 12-of-23 from 3-point range. Felician, however, sank six 3-pointers in the first half to hold a 40-38 edge at the break.

The Falcon offense only improved in the second period, scoring 45 points and hitting 17-of-28 from the floor and 5-of-12 from long range to hold on for a 3-point win.

Four Falcons finished in double figures, and the team was led by Kashiff Foster and Devon Young's 16 points.

Smith 25 points came on 10-of-18 shooting. He also hit 5-of-8 3-pointers, improving his early season two-game total to 9-of-18. His 25 points was also his highest single-game output since scoring 25 against Gannon on Feb. 23, 2006.

Junior Brian McTear added nine points and nine assists. Freshman Iddo Cohen chipped in nine points and a game-high eight rebounds.

The Lakers return to action at the Davis & Elkins Tip-Off Tournament Sunday at 3 p.m. against Columbia Union.
