No. 9 Grand Valley State took full advantage of the Mercyhurst women's volleyball team's 32 errors, notching a 3-0 win to stay perfect in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play on Friday.
Grand Valley State (19-2, 9-0 GLIAC) held the Lakers (14-8, 2-7 GLIAC) to a .008 hitting percentage. While Mercyhurst committed 32 errors, the team totaled just 33 kills and never hit more than .067 in any of the three games.
Grand Valley took the first game 30-19, then picked up a 30-21 win in game two before holding off the Lakers by a 30-27 score in the clincher.
For the first time since Aug. 25 against Westmont and just the second time all year, no Laker totaled double digit kills. Freshman Erin English and junior Lauren Kubinski each had seven to lead the team. Kubinski also registered 10 digs.
Sophomore Julie Butler recorded a team-best 27 assists and also added 10 digs. Freshman Kendall Ashworth led the squad with 14 digs.
Mercyhurst returns to action on Saturday at Ferris State.
