Oct. 28, 2007

Box Score

Erie, Pa. - Despite possessing the ball for the majority of the match and tallying more than twice the number of shots as Gannon, the Mercyhurst women's soccer team had to settle for a 1-1 tie through double overtime on Sunday. The Gannon Knights are now 7-8-2 overall and are 1-6-1 in the GLIAC. Mercyhurst ends it's regular season with a 13-3-2 record and are 5-2-1 in conference play.

Gannon struck first with a goal from Courtney Rowan in the 12th minute to give the Knights an early 1-0 lead. Twenty minutes later, Lakers' sophomore Taylor Hilinski evened the score at one off of pass from junior Sarah Powell.

Mercyhurst out-shot the Knights 18-8 and earned nine corner kick opportunities to Gannon's two. Junior Rebecca Heintzman had one save on the match.

The Mercyhurst Lakers are set to compete in the GLIAC Championships on Friday and Sunday at Grand Valley State.
