Mercyhurst sophomore Meghan Agosta scored each of the Lakers' final four goals in a 6-4 win over Colgate Saturday. She scored one in the second and added three in third as the No. 3/No. 4 Lakers prevailed over a Colgate team that hung tough throughout.
Mercyhurst jumped out to a 2-0 lead after one period on goals from Hayley McMeekin and Valerie Chouinard, but that was short-lived.
Colgate scored just 30 seconds into the second period before Agosta began her night with a goal 77 seconds later. But Colgate never flinched and added a score only 14 seconds after Agosta to cut the deficit to one at 3-2. The Raiders tied the game 7:17 into the second and it remained 3-3 into the third.
Agosta scored her second goal 5:12 into the third but Colgate came right back again and scored just seven seconds later to tie it at 4-4. Finally, Mercyhurst went ahead for good when Agosta scored the game-winner at 12:21 of the final period. She added an empty-netter with 28 seconds remaining.
Mercyhurst held a 29-27 advantage in shots on goal and was 1-of-5 on the power play. Colgate was 1-of-7.
Colgate falls to 0-5-1 on the year, while Mercyhurst improves to 6-1-1. The Lakers will host Robert Morris Tuesday at 7 p.m.
