Field Hockey Falls at Bellarmine

Oct. 21, 2007

Box Score

Erie, Pa. - Entering Sunday's contest at Bellarmine, one of the Mercyhurst field hockey team's four wins was a 2-1 overtime decision over Bellarmine on Sept. 14. The Knights, however, avenged that loss in convincing fashion, downing the Lakers by a 9-1 score.

Bellarmine (11-6) cracked the scoring column just 2:31 into the game and piled on from there, building a 8-0 lead before Kelsie Weber scored her first goal of the season with just over two minutes remaining in the game.

Bellarmine added one more with 28 seconds left on the clock. Sarah Roney led the Knights with three goals. Jourdan Hubbuch added two.

Mercyhurst drops to 4-11 on the season and entering Sunday's game, the Laker defense had allowed more than three goals in a game just three times. Only Division I Davidson on Sept. 2 scored more on the Lakers. Offensively, the Lakers have scored just three goals in their last six games.

The 2007 season finale is scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 30 at Tullio Field against Seton Hill.
