The Mercyhurst men's soccer team became just the second team to score on Ohio Dominican this year, but the Lakers came up just short in a 2-1 loss to the Panthers Saturday.
Ohio Dominican entered the contest at 12-1 on the year and ranked No. 10 in the NAIA. The Panthers had given up just one goal all year to go with 12 shutouts, but the Lakers' Kurt Young became just the second player to score against Ohio Dominican this year.
Young's goal at 75:22 tied the game with just over 14 minutes to play after Ohio Dominican scored with just 13 seconds remaining in the first half. The Panthers, however, would again score late as Blake Damron's goal with 4:02 remaining in the contest gave his team the 2-1 victory.
Ohio Dominican held an 18-9 advantage in shots and Mercyhurst keeper Daniel Mudd made eight saves in the contest.
Mercyhurst, now 7-8-2 on the year, will play its final home game of the season Wednesday when the Lakers host Tiffin at 4:00 p.m.
