University Center, Mich. - Kurt Young scored a hat trick and the game winning goal for the Lakers in their victory against Saginaw Valley on Saturday in University Center, Michigan. Mercyhurst is now 11-2 overall and 5-0 in the Great Lakers Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC). Saginaw Valley is now 2-8 overall and 0-6 in the GLIAC.

Kurt Young scored the first two goals of the game unassisted at 34:05 and 60:48. His third goal came at 70:50 with an assist from Matt Richards. Kyle Jackson added a goal at 81:41 unassisted. Shotaro Itaya added the last goal at 85:06 with the assist from Michael Nelson and Kyle Jackson.

Keeper Daniel Mudd had eight saves in the game and gave up one goal to Brent Walker with an assist from Matt Urick.

Mercyhurst outshot Saginaw 19-13 and 13-9 on goal.

Up next for the Lakers is at Oakland City on Wednesday, October 4th at 3pm.
