Erie, Pa. -
The Mercyhurst men's soccer team had its eight match winning streak snapped as Northern Kentucky defeated the Lakers 1-0 Saturday at the Mercyhurst Soccer Field. The Raiders scored the game's only goal on a penalty kick late in the contest.
Neither team was able to solve the other's defense for much of the contest as there were only eight shots on goal by the two teams combined. Each keeper was forced to make just one save during the first 45 minutes of play.
The second half was more of the same until Northern Kentucky was awarded a penalty kick following a foul in the box. Braden Bishop beat Mercyhurst keeper Daniel Mudd for the only score of the contest.
Northern Kentucky improved to 6-2-1 with the victory, while Mercyhurst fell to 9-2 overall. The Lakers begin a streak of seven consecutive road games when they play at Houghton Wednesday at 7 p.m.
