Four players scored three-goals-or-more as Mercyhurst snapped a modest two-game losing streak with a 19-5 victory over visiting Lees-McRae Friday afternoon at Tullio Field. The Lakers improved to 5-5 overall while the Bobcats dropped to 0-9.
Freshman attack Breanna Haggerty led the scoring parade with four goals while senior Kelsey French, sophomore Courtney Olevnik, and freshman Alicia Guzzo tallied three times apiece. Olevnik's trifecta came on her 20th birthday. The Lakers opened a 15-1 lead at halftime and coasted from there.
Freshman Megan Foley played the first half between the pipes for the Lakers while freshman Rebecca Heintzman saw action for the last thirty minutes. Freshman Ashley Newman went all the way for the Bobcats.
Mercyhurst will be back in action Saturday at 4:00pm when Bloomsburg visits.
