Florence, S.C. - Mercyhurst fell to West Liberty State University 7-3 this morning, bounced back for a win this afternoon against Fairmont State 4-0, and lost to West Virginia State University 4-2 in the nightcap. Mercyhurst's record is now 6-10 overall.

The Lakers led in the second inning 2-1 against West Liberty. The Toppers then scored three in the top of the third to take the lead 4-2. The Lakers then answered with one in the bottom of the third to cut the deficit in half. The Lakers were not able to fight back while the Toppers tallied one in the sixth and two in the seventh to end the game at 7-3.

This afternoon Mercyhurst defeated Fairmont State 4-0. Mercyhurst rallied in the fifth with a double from Melissa Rizzo to cross the plate four times. Jen Ferret earned the win with only giving up four hits and handed out five strikeouts.

In the nightcap, the Lakers fell to West Virginia State University 4-2. The Lakers scored their only two runs in the first inning while Jessica McNurlen contributed a double. The Yellow Jackets tied the score in the bottom of the second and scored a run in the bottom of the third and the fifth to take the game at 4-2.
