Canton, NY - Meghan Agosta more than lived up to her billing Friday night. Mercyhurst's freshman sensation scored her seventh goal of the season, the game-winner in the third period, and added three assists as the #2 Lakers remained unbeaten with a 4-2 win at #5 St. Lawrence. Mercyhurst, now 10-0-1 overall, posted its first win ever at St. Lawrence, which fell to 8-4-1.

The Lakers cashed their first two power play chances of the game as senior team captain Julia Colizza (7:31) and sophomore Valerie Chouinard (12:27) lit the lamp in the first period as Mercyhurst went to the dressing room with a 2-0 advantage. The Lakers, idle for two weeks, owned a 16-9 advantage in shots in the first twenty minutes.

The Saints roared back in the middle period as sophomore forwards Marianna Locke and Carson Duggan scored even strength and power play goals at 14:38 and 16:52 respectively. SLU had a 13-10 advantage in shots.

Agosta scored what proved-to-be the game-winner at 11:15 of the third when she beat Saints' junior goalie Meaghan Guckian. Senior winger Stefanie Bourbeau then finished St. Lawrence and the scoring when she collected her 9th of the year just 92 seconds later. St. Lawrence had an 11-6 shot advantage in the third and a 33-32 margin for the sixty minutes.

Mercyhurst junior netminder Laura Hosier stopped 31 shots, including five Saints' breakaways, to improve to 10-0-0 on the season. Guckian's record dropped to 6-4-1.

In addition to her goal, Colizza collected a pair of helpers and now has 97 points in her career. Bourbeau's lamplighter moved her to 99 career points.

The game was marred by 57 minutes in penalties, 35 to the Saints, who lost senior winger Crystal Connors on a game misconduct 15 minutes into the contest. Mercyhurst finished 2 of 9 on the power play, but was 0 for its last seven. The Saints finished 1 of 8.

The Lakers, 0-4-2 in six prior meetings in Canton, improved to 2-11-2 lifetime against the Saints.

The two teams will conclude the weekend series Saturday afternoon at 4:00.
