Junior Eric McKeever scored his second goal of the game just 27 seconds remaining in the second overtime to give the visiting Griffins of Seton Hill a hard-fought 2-1 win over Mercyhurst. With the win, Seton Hill improved to 4-1, while the Lakers dropped to 1-4.
McKeever scored past freshman goalkeeper Daniel Mudd on a breakaway after a Mercyhurst turnover.
Each team scored in the second half to send the game into overtime. McKeever started things off at 53:09 when he scored on a 2-on-1. The goal was assisted by junior Clint Loughner. The Lakers tied the game at one apiece just eight minutes later when sophomore Kyle Jackson scored his first goal of the season. Junior Jason Pedra sent a long pass to the side of the goal which was headed in by Jackson.
Mercyhurst will start GLIAC play when it travels to Ohio to play the University of Findlay on Saturday, September 10, at 1:00pm.
