Erie, Pa. - The Mercyhurst women's volleyball team improved its record to 5-0 Friday by defeating Shepherd in five games in the opening day of its annual invitational.

Mercyhurst defeated the Rams by scores of 27-30, 30-18, 30-15, 24-30, and 15-12.

Five players finished in double points against Shepherd. Sophomore Kristin Peterson led with 18 kills and 18 points.

The Lakers will play Fairmont State later Friday evening.
