A pair of second half goals by Northern Kentucky broke a 1-1 tie and dispatched Mercyhurst 3-1.
With the Lakers trailing 1-0, Jeff Oblock knocked a cross from Matt Richards into the goal to knot the score at 1-1 at the 23:33 mark. The goal was Oblock's first of the year. The score remained that way until NKU's Daniel Ertel finished a cross at the 67:34 mark for the game-winner. The Norse later added an insurance goal at the 86:50 mark to seal the contest.
Daniel Mudd played all 90 minutes in goal for the Lakers, making a pair of saves. Mercyhurst outshot NKU 15-to-7 in the contest and held a 5-to-3 advantage in corner kicks.
The Lakers will look to get into the win column on Friday, September 2, when they host St. Joseph's of Indiana.
