Lakers Pick Up Conference Win over Robert Morris, 5-1

Moon Twp., Pa. - Junior forward Lesley McArthur scored her first career goal and Ashley Pendleton added a goal and an assist as Mercyhurst notched a 5-1 win over College Hockey America foe Robert Morris.

The win was the 150th in the history of women's ice hockey at Mercyhurst.

Michelle Bonello added a pair of assists for the Lakers, who improved to 10-6-1 overall and to 3-0-0 in College Hockey America (CHA). The Colonials, a first-year program, fell to 1-10-0 and 0-1-0 respectively. Mercyhurst led 3-1 after twenty minutes and then added single tallies in the second and third periods.

Sophomore Laura Hosier made 19 saves as she improved her record to 8-6-1. Freshman Brianne McLaughlin made 37 saves as her record dipped to 1-9-0. Five saves came against Mercyhurst freshman forward Valerie Chouinard, who was held without a point as her eleven-game scoring streak came to an end.

Mercyhurst was 1-of-10 on the power play, while Robert Morris went 0-of-3. The Lakers outshot the Colonials, 42-to-6.

The two teams square off again in Moon Township on Saturday, December 10 at 7:30 PM.
