Colizza's Hat Trick Propells Lakers Over Robert Morris, 9-1

Moon Twp., Pa. - Junior forward Julia Colizza notched her second career hat trick and sophomore forward Stephanie Jones added two goals and one assist as the Lakers defeated the Robert Morris Colonials 9-1 in suburban Pittsburgh Saturday night. With the win, the Lakers improved to 11-6-1, 4-0-0 in CHA, while RMU dropped to 1-11-0 and 0-2, respectively.

Freshman forward Valerie Chouinard, shut out in Friday's night game, ending her 11-game scoring streak, assisted on three goals. Freshman forward Robyn Law scored her first collegiate goal.

Freshman Courtney Drennen started for the Lakers and played the first two periods. Freshman Nicole Nelson saw her first collegiate action as she played the third period. RMU got on the board at 5:49 of the third as freshman defenseman Samantha Ullrich beat Nelson.

The Lakers outshot RMU 51-6. In the two games, Mercyhurst outscored the Colonials 14-2 and outshot RMU 93-12.

Mercyhurst completed the 2005 portion of the schedule. The Lakers will now rest until January 7 and 8, when they travel to UConn and Providence, respectively.
