Mercyhurst finished sixth at the Pennsylvania State Duals held at Penn State. The Lakers were just one of two Division II teams competing in the tournament. The Lakers fell to Division I Lock Haven in the opening round, then rebounded to defeat Williamson, 48-3. Finally, in the consolation finals, Mercyhurst fell to Pitt-Johnstown 30-7 to finish sixth.
Lakers Mike Morgan and Rich Froats had two of the three fastest falls of the tournament. Morgan's 23 second win against Williamson was the fastest pin at the duals, with Froats' win in 42 seconds, also against Williamson, earning him the third fastest.
Mercyhurst dropped its first match, against Divison I Lock Haven, but gave the Bald Eagles a stiff challenge, falling just 25-17 in a match that came down to the final bout. Frank Zatta and Zack Schafer landed the big blows for Mercyhurst. At 184, Zatta pinned the Bald Eagles Joshua Fish in 3:39 and Schafer picked up a technical fall (18-0) at 5:52 at 165. The Lakers trailed 18-3 heading into Schafer's bout at 165, but won three of the next four bouts to cut it to 21-17. Jason Weslager also had a decision of Mercyhurst at 133, 9-2.

The Lakers rebounded after heading into the consolation bracket, drubbing Williamson by final of 48-3. Mercyhurst had four pins, a technical fall and two major decisions among their bout wins. Mike Morgan had the fastest fall of the match, winning at 174 in just 0:23. Rich Froats also scored a pin in under a minute, needing just 0:42 at 197. Schafer pinned his 165-lb. foe in 2:03 and Don Cummings had a 2:07 win at 149. Will Tedder scored a 22-14 tech fall at 157 in 2:07. John Fleming, wrestling at 125, started the match off with a major decision, 13-0 and the Lakers never looked back. J.J. Zanetta also had a major decison, taking a 12-4 final at 141.
