Erie, Pa. - Division I Duquesne handed Mercyhurst an 8-1 defeat Saturday at the Westwood Racquet Club. The Lakers' lone point came at #3 doubles as Jaclyn McLean and Maria Franco won an exciting 9-7 match.

Jennifer Daly played a strong match at #1 singles before bowing 7-5 and 6-2.

Mercyhurst dropped to 7-5 overall while Duquesne remained unbeaten at 3-0.

The Lakers will head to Midland, Mich., Thursday to participate in the GLIAC Team Championships at the Midland Community Tennis Center, a 32-court complex. Mercyhurst, seeded #5, will face the #4 seed, Lake Superior State, on Friday morning. Second round action begins Friday at 1:00pm and all final matches will start Saturday morning at 9:00.
