Mercyhurst University Athletics

Keith Cammidge

Keith Cammidge was named the head coach of the Mercyhurst women's soccer program in 2002 and has guided the program to eight consecutive seasons with at least 10 wins. In 2009, he became the first Mercyhurst women's soccer coach to earn 100 wins, passing the milestone Sept. 8 at Clarion.

Prior to his time at Mercyhurst, Cammidge was the head coach of NCAA Division I programs at Northeastern, Drexel, and North Carolina-Wilmington.

The 2009 campaign brought the Lakers' third straight conference tournament appearance, as the team tied for second place in the PSAC West with a 9-4-1 divisional mark. The team surged toward the end of the season, finishing 12-7-1 overall with wins over rival Gannon and nationally-ranked Cal. Mercyhurst dropped a tightly-contested opening round PSAC tournament matchup at IUP, 1-0, and posted the program's 22nd consecutive winning season.

While also serving as the head coach of the highly successful men's squad, Cammidge has led the women's team to 109 victories, three NCAA playoff appearances, a GLIAC title, and a PSAC tournament championship in just eight seasons. The Lakers posted four straight 15+ win seasons from 2005 through 2008 and made NCAA tournament appearances three years in a row (2006-08), including an Elite Eight run in 2008.

In 2008, he guided the Lakers on the longest NCAA tournament run in program history, as Mercyhurst won national tournament games against Slippery Rock and at West Chester before falling to Saint Rose in the NCAA Quarterfinal Round.

The 2007 squad advanced to the second round of the NCAA playoffs, the furthest the team had advanced under his tutelage until 2008.

Under Cammidge, the women's team has been one of the top teams in the conference and a regional power. The Lakers won 16 games in 2006, the second-most in school history, and captured their first conference title since 2001. In 2007, Mercyhurst went 15-4-3 and advanced to the NCAA playoffs, shutting out Quincy in a 1-0 opening round victory. The Lakers were eliminated in the second round by No. 1 Grand Valley State, but Mercyhurst pushed the top-ranked team in the country to penalty kicks.

Cammidge has an extensive background at the collegiate, Olympic development, and regional levels of soccer. He has been awarded coach of the year honors several times at the conference level and also received nominations at both the regional and national levels.

Cammidge earned his bachelor's degree in physical education and exercise physiology from Boston University and his master's degree in sports management from Northeastern.

He played collegiate soccer as a midfielder at Boston and was a member of the 1980 NCAA Tournament team and 1981 ECAC championship team.

Cammidge is also a nationally licensed coach through the United States Soccer Federation and English F.A.

He was born in London, England, and is married to the former Maureen Daly. They have a son, Ryan, and daughters, Kelly and Clara Rose.
