Hale won five consecutive matches on Saturday, November 12 to win the 285lb division at the Washington & Jefferson Open.  In his first match of the day Hale recorded a fall over Kevin Heyman of Thiel six minutes into the match.  From there, Hale registered three consecutive decisions getting him into the championship bout.  Hale wouldn't disappoint in his last match of the day, pinning West Liberty's Ian Howell just 2:19 into the match.  Hale's most notable match of the Open may have come when he defeated West Virginia University's Brandon Williamson in the semifinals, who ranks 15th in Division I on wrestlingreport.com.
