Wilkerson was named the Mercyhurst athlete of the week for his efforts on the mat during the Lakers' 27-15 victory over No. 19 Wheeling Jesuit, and 27-12 victory over No. 18 Findlay. In the match against Findlay Wilkerson at a 165 pounds, was the sole Laker mat man to earn a victory over one of three nationally ranked Oiler wrestlers, that competed. Wilkerson earned an 11-0 major decision over No. 8 Alonzo Turner, his win pushed the Lakers to a 22-3 lead.
