Waring joined the Mercyhurst staff in February of 2022 and was named Offensive Line Coach and Recruiting Coordinator upon arrival and was elevated to the Associate Head Coach prior to the 2024 season.
In 2023, the Lakers were able to take another step forward under Waring's tutelage with their points per game, yards per game, yards per play, and many more. One area in which the line took a major step forward was pass protection, helping to one of the better years through the air in recent history with 246.8 passing yards per game to go along with the one of the highest completion percentage ever in a single season at 59.85 and 23 touchdowns. The team allowed just 20 sacks all year for the fourth-fewest in the PSAC and proved to be their best mark since 2019.
In 2022, his first season with the Mercyhurst Lakers offense, the offense saw an improvement in points per game, rushing yards, rush Yards per attempt, rushing touchdowns, total offense, and sacks allowed from the season before, while being one of the least penalized teams in the country.
His offensive line paved the way with four games over 150 yards rushing and helped running back Dustin Shoaf be named to Second Team All-PSAC. Before Mercyhurst, Waring joined Lance Leipold and his staff in a Quality Control role working with the Defensive Line in the February of 2021. Waring was retained with Buffalo as a staff change brought Maurice Linguist in as the new Head Coach of the University of Buffalo in May of '21. Waring continued to work with the Defensive Line under Defensive Line Coach Cedric Douglas. In his lone season at the University at Buffalo the Bulls defense was a top-five unit in the MAC in rushing yards allowed and a top-five unit in the MAC in sacks and top 20 in the country in sacks. Which included a game where the Bulls had a program-record 11 sacks in the game, shattering the previous record of eight. He also helped with the development of 2nd Team All-MAC Defensive Lineman selection, Daymond Williams. Before Waring was at the University of Buffalo, he started his coaching career at Buffalo State.
In 2019, Waring was part of the number three passing attack in the Liberty League which averaged 246.9 Yards per Game. His line helped protect for an offense that had a First Team All Liberty League Wide Receiver Jordan Evert who had recorded 92 receptions for 1182 yards and 11 touchdowns and a Second Team All Liberty League Running Back, Martin Bailey. In that season he helped coach Offensive Lineman Kyle Schreader to a 2nd Team All Liberty League selection and Tre Smith to Honorable Mention All Liberty League selection.
In 2018, he helped coach David Lauer to a 2nd Team All-Empire 8 selection.
In 2017, the Bengals ended the season with a bid to the ECAC Clayton Chapman Bowl. In that season the Bengals were third in the conference in passing averaging 244.3 yards per game. That season he also helped coach a Kick Return unit that helped Jamar Rutledge be selected to the D3Football.com All-East Region Team and First Team All-Empire 8 as a Kick Returner.
In 2016, his first season at Buffalo State, Waring was an assistant on Special Teams and with the Offensive Line. In that season the Bengals Offense averaged a total of 391.6 Yards per Game and 156.7 Yards per Game rushing while only giving up 23 sacks. Running Back Tre Jones was 4th in the conference in rushing with 932 yards. During that season he helped with the development of Honorable Mention Offensive Lineman selection, John Navarro.
Waring is a 2014 Graduate from Wittenberg University where he was a two-year letter winner as an Offensive Lineman. In his time at Wittenberg, the Tigers accumulated 38 wins and three NCAC Conference Championships. His Sophomore season, he was part of the first ever Division III team to get to 700 program wins when Wittenberg beat Capital 45-28.
In his junior season the Tigers went 10-2 and put together the largest comeback in NCAA Division III Tournament history, rallying from a 22-point first-half deficit to stun Heidelberg 52-38 in the first round of the 2012 playoffs.
His senior season, he was part of an offense that averaged 511.5 Yards per Game which was good for fifth in the country and for four of the top ten performances in program history. He was part of an offensive line that helped protect one of the best passing attacks in program history.
Waring now resides in Erie with his wife, Hannah.
