Andy Simon-Wambach

Andy Simon-Wambach will be entering his twelth year on the staff at Mercyhurst University in 2024-2025. He was promoted to the role of Associate Director of Athletics in June 2023 and also served as the Interim Athletic Director in summer of 2023. This promotion follows three years as an Assistant Athletic Director and five years as the Director of Athletic Training, In his first two years at Mercyhurst, Simon-Wambach served as the athletic trainer and equipment manager for the women's ice hockey team.

In his current role as Associate Director of Athletics, Simon-Wambach is responsible for overseeing the operations of the athletic department. This includes the athletic department budgets as well as event operations, facilities and marketing. He is also the sport administrator for numerous teams and serves as an advisor to the Student Athlete Advisory Committee.

In his time at Mercyhurst Simon-Wambach has assisted in many other areas of campus in addition to his work in athletics. He taught the freshmen level Introduction to Mercyhurst class for many years and has also taught as an adjunct faculty member in the Athletic Training and Sports Business departments. During the COVID pandemic Simon-Wambach was a part of the University's COVID response team where he ran the COVID testing for all of campus and worked as a contact tracer.
 
A native of Madison, Wisconsin, Simon-Wambach graduated from the University of Wisconsin in 2010 with a bachelor's degree in Kinesiology - Athletic Training. After graduating from Wisconsin, Simon-Wambach worked at the University of Wisconsin - Whitewater, an NCAA Division III institution for a semester before pursuing a Graduate Assistantship. While a GA Simon-Wambach served as an athletic trainer for The Ohio State University while also earning his masters degree in sports management.
