Kody Young, a 2016 graduate Mercyhurst, has been named the graduate assistant coach for the wrestling team throughout the 2017-18 season.
 
Young will bring a vast amount of experience to the team from a coaching standpoint; he joins the Lakers coaching staff after spending a season as an assistant coach for Seneca High School during 2016-2017.
 
During his athletic career, Young was a two time national qualifier in the 2011-12 and 2013-14 seasons both at the 133-pound weight class. Young also boasted a 72-38 career record during his time on the mat for the Lakers.
 
Through his freshman season (2011-12) Young with 17 falls was named the co-winner of the inaugural 'Most Falls' award in Division II. Young currently sits sixth in most falls in Mercyhurst wrestling program history, and second in most pins in one season.
 
Young was also named a to the National Wrestling Coaches Association All-American second team during the 2014-2015 for his prowess in the classroom, as well as on the mat.
 
Young will be pursuing a Master's degree in the Organizational Leadership Program with a concentration in Sports Leadership.
