Michael Young Jr.

Young enters his second full year as the head men's and women's golf coach in 2023-23 after being announced in early November 2022. 

In Young’s first season with the program in the spring of 2023, the women’s team saw success finishing in the Top 5 of all 6 events they played including a victory at the 2023 Dr. Edwin B. Cottrell Invitational hosted by West Chester University. The Laker’s compiled 2 additional runner up finishes as well. Three Lakers would earn All-PSAC Honors; Alyssa Ballaro, Kymberly Henry and Isabella Walter finding their way on the Second Team. 

Young Jr. graduated from Roberts Wesleyan in 2018 after spending three years on the course for the Redhawks before moving on to DeSales University for two years, graduating with his MBA in 2020. During his time at DeSales, Young Jr. was a graduate assistant for the golf program, managing the daily operations of the teams. 

During his time at Roberts Wesleyan, Young Jr. was a part of the 2018 Division 2 Atlantic/East Regional Championship Team, the first regional championship for Roberts Wesleyan. Young Jr. competed in the 2018 Division 2 National Championship, the first appearance in program history. 

Following his time at DeSales, Young spent 3 seasons working as an Assistant Golf Professional at Brookside Country Club of Allentown in Macungie, PA. Young is entering his second season at Lake Shore Country Club in Erie, PA as an Assistant Golf Professional in addition to his role at Mercyhurst. 

The former Redhawk continues to compete in professional events having previously competed in the Philadelphia PGA Section in 2022 and now actively competes in the Western NY PGA Section.
