Blair MacDougall

MacDougall enters his fourth season at Mercyhurst and his second as the head coach. He was previously the graduate assistant for the 2021-22 season before taking on the role of interim head coaching and helping lead the Women's Water Polo team to a record of 7-15.

In 2024, MacDougall led the women's team to a 7-24 overall record, including dominant wins over Penn State Behrend, Grove City College, and Salem University.

In his first season as the head coach of the men, the team finished with a record of 4-22 with the team finishing 0-6 in the WWPA. The Lakers were sparingly in their own pool, but then they were they made the most of their opportunities with a 2-3 record, beating Austin College 11-16 before a 12-11 win over Penn State Behrend. The men made it back-to-back seasons in which they had an All-American named with Owen Hardner earning the honor from the ACWPC after Tony Golin and Danilo Vujovic did so the year prior. The women had to ACWPC All-Americans with both Freya Green and Allie Dombkowski both being honored as Honorable Mentions in the midst of their 7-24 campaign, finishing in third in the WWPA Tournament where the Lakers defeated Fresno Pacific 8-7 in the opening round before a 10-9 victory over McKendree to end their time in the event.

MacDougall joined the coaching ranks in 2013 at UC Santa Cruz and helped the team win their second national title. He later joined the University of Central Florida in 2016 with his team being named the regular season champion and finishing runner-up in the Florida Division Championship. He was hired as the graduate assistant at Mercyhurst for the 2022-23 season and was named the interim head coach in the spring, helping the women to a 7-15 campaign, including a pair of wins over Gannon.

Macdougall previously played for the University of California Santa Cruz from 2008-12, helping begin the program for the Banana Slugs for both genders. He helped the team to the DIII Collegiate Club Championship in 2010 with Macdougall playing a large role as he was named to the All-Tournament Second Team while also earning D III All-American Second Team honors.
