Michael Williamson

Williamson took over the Mercyhurst cross country teams as the head coach prior to the 2020-21 season, manning the helm for the sixth season in 2025.

The 2024 season brought great success for Williamson as he and the team took on their first Division I season as members of the NEC. Williamson led his team to top finishes at invitationals throughout the season. At the 2024 NEC Championship, he led the women's team to a 6th-place finish and the men's team to an 8th-place finish.

Williamson served as the assistant coach for both the Mercyhurst men's and women's cross country teams since the 2014 season and in that time, he helped lead three men and four women to all-conference honors.

Since graduation, Williamson has continued to race competitively. He has run the Boston Marathon three times (2018,2019,2024) and the New York City Marathon (2019) once, where he has achieved a top 200 overall finish, and top 100 American finish.

A 2014 Graduate of Mercyhurst, Williamson earned a degree in Social Work. He ran cross country for the Lakers during the 2010-13 seasons, and was named team captain of the men for the 2013 season where he helped the men have the highest conference and regional finish at that time.

Williamson also works full time at the Charter School of Excellence in downtown Erie as a Program Facilitator. He works with high school aged students who are experiencing educational, emotional, and social barriers to their education.

Michael resides in Erie with his wife Rosmary Williamson who is on the Gannon University cross county coaching staff.     Â
